Marshall Co. Rotary launches 'Interact'

Marshall Co. Rotary

The Marshall County Rotary Club donates tens of thousands of dollars each year to local charitable projects that all have one common bond – they benefit the children of Marshall County. Now, they are focusing on developing future community leaders through the implementation of a world-wide Rotary program called 'Interact.' Interact is a service club for youth ages 14-18 and currently has membership of over 250,000 youth in more than 11,000 clubs worldwide. Rotarian member Steve Fisk said there have already been more than 50 students sign up to participate.  He added this program will not only help to develop leadership, but will promote community involvement in participants. Judge rules in favor of Graves BOE

A judge has ruled in favor of the Graves County Board of Education in a lawsuit over the closing of Cuba Elementary School. Franklin Circuit Court Judge Phillip J. Shepherd issued his ruling in the case of Josh Cherry, William Bell, Richard Jackson and Larry Dale Shelby vs. the Graves County Board of Education. The court granted summary judgment in favor of the school board. According to Shepherd, the Graves County Board of Education's decision to close Cuba Elementary was within the authority of the local school board. He said the school board acted in good faith and had a sound and reasonable basis for deciding to close the school. Cherry, Bell, Jackson and Shelby had sued the school board, alleging it mishandled the process of closing the school in May. (Updated: 10:29 am, Thursday)
